Plan For These Security Measures When Erecting A Fence Around Your Business

When you plan to have a chain-link fence erected around your business, you'll need to think about what security elements you wish to include. Many businesses don't have a fence around the front, but will protect the rear of their location with a fence that will keep prowlers out. Look for a commercial fencing contractor who can get the job done on time and on budget, as well as work with you to include a variety of security-related features. Here are some features to think about.

Angled Fence Top

Having an angled top on the fence around your business can be a valuable deterrent for keeping people off your property. This style of top is common for chain link fencing, which might be the type of fence you're thinking to have installed. A fence without an angled top can be easy for someone to scale, but the presence of the angled top makes doing so immediately more difficult. The top of the fence needs to angle away from your property, rather than toward it. In this position, someone climbing the fence would be thwarted by the angled piece extending above him or her.

Barbed Wire

Barbed wire is another valuable security feature to talk to your fencing contractor about including. Barbed wire is commonly paired with an angled fence top — together, these two elements greatly reduce the ease with which someone might be able to climb over the fence and trespass on your property. While some organizations choose to protect their premises with razor wire, barbed wire can serve as enough of a deterrent on its own. You can opt to have strands of barbed wire run horizontally across the top of the fence or even have rolls of the wire mounted to the top of the fence. In either scenario, the average person will not wish to climb over this deterrent.

Cameras And Lights

Your commercial fencing contractor might not actually be the one to install cameras and motion-activated lights in your fence, but if you want these elements included, you'll have to share this detail with the contractor. Doing so is necessary because the contractor will make sure to include wiring that is connected to your building's electrical supply panel, runs up through the fence posts, and is capped off. Then, when you hire a security company to install your cameras and lights, these elements can simply by attached to the existing wires.
